Jo-Anna is from a small city in Ontario, Canada—born and raised. She lives with her husband, Michael, and their two furbabies (cats), Ziggy and Oreo.
She just started taking up writing in 2013 and loves it! She absolutely loves her characters and cannot wait to share their stories with the world.
SB: Break Me (Shattered 1) is your debut novel. How does it make you feel?
JW: Oh my gosh, I can’t even begin to describe how I feel right now. Lol! Excited. Nervous. FREAKING TERRIFED. But I’m so super-stoked to have my characters' stories out there. Or almost out there. Release day will be here before I know it!
SB: Tell us a bit about this book. What makes it a good read?
JW: Good girl meets bad boy. They end up falling in love…eventually...but, of course, someone from the guy’s past comes back to haunt him and wants her for himself. There’s love, banter, action…I tried to include every emotion.
SB: I couldn’t help but wonder if the title of the book means something.
JW: Haha. My daddy asked me if it had to do with bondage. I said no. He asked about the name. I said it’s an emotional bondage. The guy in my story is strong, alpha, knows what he wants and goes for it and doesn’t let anyone get in his way. Well, insert girl and he “breaks.”
SB: Tells us a bit about the main character, Tori McLeod. How was her character birthed?
JW: She just came knocking one day and told me to write her story. When I actually started writing it the first time…let's just say, it was not good. Lol! Tori and I grew together really and now she’s happy that I got the story right.
SB: Tori McLeod meets a mysterious stranger and is intrigued by that person. Have you ever met someone mysterious that you were intrigued by?
JW: Honestly? No.
SB: Why did you want to make Break Me into a book series?
JW: Because my characters kept talking and talking and one book wasn’t enough to get all of their stories out.
SB: I read that you already have two titles for upcoming books in the Shattered series. Does this mean that you have already completed manuscripts for these books?
JW: Yes. I actually have finished the second book, Always Me. It’s going through beta readers right now but I hope to have it released by the end of the year.
SB: What helps you to focus when you are writing?
JW: Pure silence and coffee. Lol!
SB: What’s next for you?
JW: Lots and lots of writing.
